Saved cards and repeat payments

A patient who comes back every month should not read their card number out every month. The vault keeps the card with the payment partner and gives the practice a one-click charge.

How a card is saved

• Card details are captured by the payment partner's secure fields; Medipay holds a reference to the card, never the number
• The saved card sits on the patient's page next to their payment history, with a consent log
• The same page carries the patient's private payment link

Charging it

• Take a payment, pick the patient, choose the saved card, confirm; no re-keying
• Instalment plans collect each due amount from the saved card automatically
• Receipts go out exactly as they do for any other payment

Removing it

Remove the card from the patient's page at any time, or as soon as the patient asks. On request you can export a patient's full data as a file, or erase their personal details in one click while the financial record stays for your accounts.

Good practice

• Tell the patient what the saved card will be used for, and put it in the consent log
• Use an instalment plan for scheduled amounts rather than charging by hand each month
• Review saved cards when a patient's course of treatment ends
