Offering instalment plans for treatment
How a payment plan works day to day on Medipay: deposit, schedule, automatic collection, early settlement.
A treatment plan that costs more than a patient wants to pay at once does not have to be lost. A payment plan lets the practice spread it without running a lending book.
How a plan is set up
- The practice sets the total, the deposit, the number of instalments and the schedule
- The patient pays the deposit through their payment page
- Each following instalment is collected automatically on its due date
- The patient can settle the remaining balance early in one tap
What the practice sees
Every plan shows what has been collected, what is due next and what is outstanding. A failed instalment is visible so your team can follow up, and the patient's payment page shows the same schedule they agreed to.
A note on the rules
Whether an instalment arrangement counts as consumer credit depends on its term and structure, and that is a question for your own adviser, not for a payments guide. This page describes the mechanics Medipay provides; how you offer plans to patients is your practice's decision.
